Disclosures
Plain answers about how this site works.
We're a referral service
SmithMountainLakeRiprap.com connects Smith Mountain Lake property owners with independent local contractors. We don't place riprap, build or repair docks, or install lifts ourselves, and we don't employ the contractors we refer.
How we're paid
Contractors pay us to receive referrals or to advertise on this site. Property owners never pay us anything.
One contractor per request
Each request goes to one contractor who serves your area, not to a list of companies.
Contractors are responsible for their work
The contractor you hire is responsible for their licensing, insurance, permits, pricing, workmanship, and warranties. Any agreement is between you and the contractor. We encourage you to verify any contractor's Virginia license before hiring.
Calls may be recorded
Calls to our phone number may be recorded for quality and to confirm referrals.
Brands and sources
This site is not affiliated with Appalachian Power, AEP, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, or any county. Shoreline and dock rules on this site are summarized from Appalachian Power's published Shoreline Management Plan, FAQ and permit forms, and from the county, state and federal pages they link to. Cost figures come from the national cost guides and local sources each page names, as of the date stated. They are general information, not legal advice. Appalachian Power's Shoreline Management office, the county, and your contractor's written quote are what count.
Who runs this site
SmithMountainLakeRiprap.com is owned and managed by a Virginia native.
